Thursday, May 14th 2015 Annual Plant Swap & Learn

5/6/2015

(This replaces our regular MG meeting.)

Times:

Bring plants at 12:30 or earlier if you have a lot of plants, so we can get them all organized.
Swap & Learn - to start at 1:00

Where?
Clysta Willett Park
(Formerly Twin Lakes Park)

What?
  1. We will start with the educational part of the swap by asking everyone to tell us something about their plants: Their names, any specific instructions, why I like them, any warnings about its nature, etc. You may want to take notes. This might be something you can pick up later if not today.
  2. The swap itself will start with those bringing the most plants and then fewer and quickly working toward those who brought none. If you don’t have any plants to bring, there have always been plenty plants for all to bring home something.

What to bring?
  • Plants you’ve saved for the swap, any extra plants that didn’t get to the plant sale, even plants recently potted up. If recently potted, please note this on the ID form for the benefit of the taker. These plants don’t need to be in as great shape as for the plant sale.
  • Bulbs, rhizomes, seeds. These can be bundled with one label per bundle, or several per group.
  • Cuttings from plants you know will start new plants. (Please bring shopping bags for takers to put the cuttings into).
  • Plant Id’s and your name with all plants. We all can’t know about all plants that are brought, especially when they are small. Every year we have many plants left behind because they aren’t identified and don’t know the name of Master Gardener who brought them.
  • Boxes, bags etc, to keep the plants you are taking home separate from others.

Directions to Clysta Willet Park
Take Shed Hopper (62) bypass to Hwy 5 south, (turning away from Mountain Home). Look for Rossi Road on right, just past a liquor store. There is a small sign to the Park. Drive until you see the park signs on the left.

From the bypass, turn onto Rossi Road heading east away from Mountain Home. Then continue, following left on Rossi Road. Drive until you will see the park signs on the right.

Once just in the park, wind around until you will see the large green roofed building on the left with a large parking lot in front of it. We will be using the covered pavilion.

I’m looking forward to all having a good time.
