Ceil and I are so 'thankful' for a great turn out of Phyllis Henley, Kathy Hodnett, Cecilia Kessler, Frank Sinning, Judy Kyle, and Laurie Irwin who joined Ceil and I this past Thursday 5/28. Frank worked on and finished mulching the Plum Tree bed and Judy Kyle helped mulch the main bed as the rest of the group weeded the main bed. Kathy did thin out the "Cherry Belles" as many who have this plant in their yard say they can 'naturalize' very easily. We also placed plant id stakes at many of the plants that were blooming and briefly discussed their characteristics.
Mr. Richard Elliott who is a retired builder and very knowledgeable about sprinkler systems joined us around 10am. He provided an overview of different types of systems as well as resources for watering information. The garden remains to look great with all of the help we have had to weed and mulch. A Big Thank you to all who have supported the native garden.
Our next Enhancement Day is Monday June 15th. Our primary focus will be to continue to mulch the main bed. Kevin Pieper who is the Baxter Bulletin Staff Photographer and has also published some great books with photography of the Arkansas Landscape will join us around 10am. He will be talking about tips on taking great landscape photographs and hopefully take a few of CW. This should be a peak blooming time for the native garden.
Hope you can join us on Monday June 15 starting at 8:30. Should we need to cancel/reschedule due to inclement weather we will send out a buddy message ASAP as well as email the core group.
Please contact Ceil or myself if ever you have questions.
